I think they were trying to hide the visual weight and height If the car with the two tone, but instead made it look like an actual whale

There are plenty of ways to do two tone paint, that is not one of them.

They failed totally, all it did was emphasize its bulk. Like an obese person trying to hide their size by wearing even bigger, baggier clothes.
